UNIFIL’s Ghanaian peacekeepers donated last week a photocopier to a special needs school in Ayta ash-Shaab and a 30 KVA generator set to a community centre in Al Qawzah.
The Ghanaian peacekeepers from the outgoing battalion (GHANBATT 84) had organized two benefit musical concerts – in the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura and the Sector West Headquarters in Shamaa last month – to raise funds to buy the equipment.
The Ghanaian peacekeepers took the initiative to support after receiving a request from the Al Qawzah Municipality.
UNIFIL’s Sector West Commander Brigadier General Paolo Fabbri attended a ceremony to hand over the generator on 6 July.
Between their peacekeeping operational duties, UNIFIL peacekeepers carry out a number of activities in the communities they serve in order to preserve and strengthen their ties.
