SRSG Ziadeh visits Pejë/Peć municipality

On 4 May, the Special Representative of the Secretary General and Head of UNMIK, Ms. Caroline Ziadeh, visited Pejë/Peć municipality and met Mayor Gazmend Muhaxheri and other municipal officials. SRSG Ziadeh and Mayor Muhaxheri discussed a variety of issues, including integration of non-majority communities, socio-economic development, support to women and assistance to returnees. SRSG Ziadeh assured the Mayor of UNMIK’s continued support, particularly in inter-community dialogue, gender mainstreaming and the sustainable return of IDPs.

SRSG Ziadeh also visited the Women’s Wellness Centre in town which offers support to victims of gender-based and domestic violence. The director of the Centre, Ms. Ardita Ramizi Bala, thanked UNMIK for the support provided through different projects, including the recent donation of IT equipment.
