The Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) hosted the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, Mr. Atul Khare, from 14 to 16 May 2026.
In his welcome remarks during a staff town hall meeting, RSCE Director Mr. Paulin Djomo expressed his appreciation to the Under-Secretary-General and the Department of Operational Support for their continued support to the Centre.
Addressing the staff, USG Khare began by acknowledging the dedication and hard work of all stakeholders, including the UN Department for Operational Support, the Centre’s leadership, and the Government of Uganda towards the RSCE. He reflected on the Centre’s remarkable transformation, from an entity once considered for closure to one now poised to deliver services on a global scale.
Mr. Khare encouraged staff to maintain a strong commitment to excellence:
“Now is the time to ensure that your work is of the highest quality, both individually and collectively. Discipline is a shared responsibility, along with focus, commitment, and consistently delivering excellence in everything you do.”
He also underscored the importance of embracing innovation and advancing the use of new technologies. Noting that the Centre is already leveraging systems such as Sparta, through CEDA, and other dashboards, he emphasized that continued technological advancement is essential for achieving higher-quality results and meeting the growing expectations placed on the Centre and the Department as a whole.
As part of his engagements, the USG paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Yoweri Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, at State House in Entebbe. Their discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, including the Centre’s evolving and expanding mandate. H.E. President Museveni reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to continued collaboration with the United Nations in advancing peace, stability, and sustainable development.
Thereafter, Mr. Khare held separate meetings with the RSCE Senior Management, the Field Staff Union, and the National Staff Association.
The Under-Secretary-General’s visit comes at a pivotal time, as the Centre’s mandate continues to expand. Following the transition of service delivery responsibilities from the Kuwait Joint Support Office (KJSO), RSCE assumed responsibility for 16 new client entities in April 2026. As a result, the Centre now provides services to a total of 32 entities.
